   The micro-turbo-generator uses the same core turbomachinery as a micro-turbofan, but instead of driving a fan to provide thrust, drives a light weight, permanent magnet generator to provide electrical output. Using a compact recuperator to recover heat from the exhaust decreases the fuel consumption to 1 lb/hr/kW, while still maintaining a power-to-weight ratio of 1.7 kW/lb. This is six times the specific power, or 12-15 times the energy density, of lithium polymer batteries. Electrical output ranges to over 100 kW. The micro- turbo-generator is ideally suited for hybrid light-sports electric aircraft.

   The turbo-generator is the perfect on-board power source for our aircraft. It provides vehicle weight savings of up to 68% – with a consequent reduction in fuel consumption and carbon emissions – compared to a piston engine or a turbine engine. Further environmental benefits: 1.Cleaner combustion and 2. Lower manufacturing energy requirements. The aircraft will use turbo-generators, that feed a distributed electrical power system.
